For anyone interested in finding out about Visual Communications, the organization I work for, here is the link to VC’s homepage. The organization was incorporated in April 1970 through the hard work of folks who were responsible for the establishment of the UCLA Asian American Studies Center; and most significant, second-year Asian American students of a UCLA affirmative action initiative at the UCLA Film School, the Enthnocommunications Program. The four founders — Duane Kubo, a surfer/stoner from San Jose; Robert Nakamura, a photographer and U.S. Army vet who cut his teeth in the studios of Charles and Ray Eames; Alan Ohashi, a gifted visual artist with an interest in martial arts; and Eddie Wong, a native Angeleno and budding student activist — helped realize Visual Communications from its beginnings as a mediamakers’ cooperative to a full-service media arts center, and passed down their knowledge and experiences to subsequent generations of VCers.
